From Lüdenscheid to Cairo: Sportklinik Hellersen shows live surgeries at international orthopaedic congress

Sportklinik Hellersen as a key player at the EOA Congress - participation at the express invitation of the organizers

Sportklinik Hellersen made a strong international statement at the 77th Annual Congress of the Egyptian Orthopaedic Association (EOA) in Cairo: At the express invitation of the congress organizers, the specialist clinic presented itself as an international partner - and for the first time in the history of the congress, live operations from a German clinic were transmitted to Cairo. Sportklinik Hellersen presented state-of-the-art orthopaedic medicine from Lüdenscheid to over 5,000 trade visitors.

Professional prelude: Workshop on modern endoprosthetics

Chief Dr. Stefan Schmidl kicked off the congress with a specialist workshop on modern arthroplasty. He presented current developments at the Center for Artificial Joint Replacement at Sportklinik Hellersen and showed how innovative procedures, precision planning and new surgical technologies can sustainably improve patient care. The workshop was well attended and was intensively discussed by the international participants.

Two live surgeries from Lüdenscheid - surgical precision impresses the congress management

The highlight of the four-day specialist program were two live operations that were transmitted directly from the operating theatres at Sportklinik Hellersen to Cairo: a robot-assisted knee joint operation with the VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution and a cruciate ligament operation. The procedures were commented on and explained live in Cairo by the Chief Surgeons responsible - Dr. Stefan Schmidl and Dr. Markus Leyh. The congress management - consisting of Prof. Mohamed Elashhab, Secretary General of the EOA Congress and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Benha University, and Prof. Dr. Adel Adawy, former Egyptian Minister of Health - was impressed by the technical precision, the clear structuring of the procedures and the surgical professionalism of the entire team.

International recognition and close partnership

The delegation from Sportklinik Hellersen - consisting of Dirk Burghaus, CEO of Sportklinik Hellersen, Dr. Stefan Schmidl, Chief of Arthroplasty, Dr. Markus Leyh, Chief of Shoulder, Elbow, Knee Surgery and Traumatology, Consultant Physician Sharief Saad and Ahmed Almousa, Sportklinik Hellersen's representative in the Middle East, Africa and Asia - was personally welcomed in Cairo by the former Egyptian Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Adel Adawy.

Prof. Mohamed Elashhab praised the collaboration as "groundbreaking for international orthopaedic exchange" and presented the delegation with a certificate of honor from the Egyptian Orthopaedic Association as special recognition.

Strong contribution to international networking

"Participating in the EOA Congress is an extraordinary opportunity to present our medical expertise and the capabilities of German cutting-edge medicine internationally. For us, international exchange is a key component in further improving quality and offering our patients the best possible care," says Dirk Burghaus.

Cairo confirms Sportklinik Hellersen as a global trendsetter

The EOA Congress brings together leading experts, doctors and young scientists from all over the world and is regarded as one of the most important orthopaedic meetings in the Middle East and Africa. With its role in Cairo, Sportklinik Hellersen once again underlines its claim to bring medical innovations from Lüdenscheid to the world and to be perceived as an international driving force in cutting-edge orthopaedic medicine.
