Clear recommendation for the specialist areas of spinal surgery and cruciate ligament and meniscus treatments

Heinrich Böckelühr finds out about the special clinic /
North Rhine-Westphalia's Olympic bid also discussed

The Sportklinik Hellersen has received a visit from Arnsberg: Heinrich Böckelühr, President of the Arnsberg district government, visited the clinic to find out about its development and commitment to sport. He was accompanied by department head Dr. Andreas Hohlfeld, who is responsible for health and social services in the district government.

The discussion with Dirk Burghaus, CEO of Sportklinik Hellersen, and Stefan Klett, President of the NRW State Sports Association and the sponsor of the specialist clinic, Sporthilfe NRW e.V., focused on the history of Sportklinik Hellersen, its orientation as a highly specialized specialist clinic and important developments in recent months. One important point was the internationalization strategy. With the Hellersen Hospital, the specialist clinic has been building international bridges since 2023 and making its medical expertise available worldwide. In addition, the field of endoprosthetics was specifically strengthened and a significant milestone was reached with the new robotics center, which was opened at the end of last year by NRW Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann, opening up state-of-the-art surgical options in Lüdenscheid. The Sportklinik Hellersen has also made targeted developments in other areas in recent years: the German Spine and Scoliosis Center has been established and continuously expanded.

During the visit, the planned Olympic bid of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia was also discussed - a topic that met with great interest from all those involved. As a long-standing partner of organized sport, Sportklinik Hellersen already makes an important contribution to the sports medical care and support of athletes. "Sportklinik Hellersen stands for highly specialized care and great commitment to competitive sports. Facilities like these strengthen NRW as a sporting state - and it is precisely structures like these that we need if we want to position ourselves internationally with an Olympic bid," emphasizes Stefan Klett.

The commitment of the Sportklinik Hellersen to top-class sport also attracted a great deal of attention from the District President - especially the role of individual doctors as team doctors. Most recently, for example, Dr. Tobias Schmenn accompanied the German women's national team as team doctor at the Women's European Championships in Switzerland.

District President Heinrich Böckelühr, who has held the office since September 2022, was impressed by the range of services offered by the Lüdenscheid-based specialist clinic: "Sportklinik Hellersen stands for medical expertise, innovative further development and a close connection to sport - a strong combination that radiates far beyond the region."

"We were delighted to welcome Mr. Böckelühr and Dr. Hohlfeld to our clinic. Their interest in our work and our contribution to medical care and sport is something we greatly appreciate," said Dirk Burghaus after the meeting.
